For example, when my sister got a wheelchair we ed her "Wheels" for a week or so, until she told us to cut it out. "Just 'cause I'm in a chair doesn't mean you can PUSH ME AROUND!" She christened her chair "The Fire Ball" to reflect the increased mobility her chair allowed. Calling it "Her Disability" would have just made everyone feel bad, I think. The wheelchair was a low point for the family, since we were just coming to terms with acknowledging that she *really* was ill and REALLY could die, and in fact probably die. The "wheels" "Fire Ball" thing make it easier to talk about. While I'm on the subject, after years of therapy (some IV bone density treatment that made her feel terrible) my sister no longer needs the chair. She did have to say a sad goodbye to, her assistance dog. He was euthanized in her apartment last Saturday. RIP. Married Elicia, 49
